EXPLORING THE NATURE AND CULTURE OF THE NORTHERN ALBANIAN ALPS

This year we are working with the guide Erin Selimaj and his family. The Selimaj family provide hiking and travel guides who combine their own strength and enthusiasm for the land with hundreds of years of inherited knowledge. This is their land, and they are proud to show it to you, and delighted to answer any and all questions.

The tours lead to hidden valleys with magnificent views, and be acquainted with the latest unique ecosystem in Europe, called Valbona. For people who love nature the Valbona Valley will be like heaven. There is little formal research done, but the American Catherine Bohne started with it, and moved from New York to the beautiful Valbona. Together with the rich fund of knowledge of the local tradition, together with the Family Selimaj, she tries to get attention to the latter preserved pristine and unique ecosystem. On her website http://www.journeytovalbona.com you will find a wealth of information on this area with its pristine ecosystem. We are happy to cooperate and join forces in a responsible manner to promote eco-tourism in this area. Biologists and Physics students are hereby cordially invited to join in research into this area.

From Albania Camping we provide short and long tours to this area. For more substantive questions about the tours please email directly with your guide Erin Selimaj. His email address is
infotours@camping-albania.eu
Erin Selimaj is studying literature and tourism in Tirana and has many years experience as a guide in Valbona.
The family Selimaj not only accompany the tours, but have a number of gues houses, hostel and small campsite in the Valbona Valley. Under the heading Valbona you will find everything.

I keep the fords of the valleys under my armour,
and even to this day I see my lands
in the leaves of the green gras.
The sound of distant streams.
And the monotonous voice of the childhood lip,
have grown in me for many years,
Like blood flowers in the meadow,
to become a song one day.
